Zoner Photo Studio X spring update: The World’s Best HDR Photo Editing

16. April 2024 | News Press Releases The popular photo editor comes with a revolutionary new feature for working with HDR photos, new features for editing images and videos and many other improvements.

Working with true HDR photos

The Zoner Photo Studio team is among the first in the world to introduce full support for true HDR photo editing. Starting with the spring update, it is now possible to use the full dynamic range of modern monitors supporting HDR content. The good news is that many photographers already have a great source of HDR data at home in the form of their raw files.  This is a new technology that replaces traditional methods like tone-mapping or exposure bracketing, which only emulate the HDR effect. Zoner Photo Studio X allows you to save both regular (Standard Dynamic Range) and HDR data in a single image for full backward compatibility with common monitors and browsers. “During development we spent hundreds of hours testing various HDR displays to ensure that the resulting HDR photos and, more importantly, the results themselves are as good as possible,” adds Jan Kupcik, Zoner Photo Studio product manager.

Complete chromatic aberration removal

Added to the ZPS X arsenal is the ability to remove color fringing, a type of chromatic aberration that appears on the ragged out-of-focus edges of contrast objects. This makes chromatic aberration removal in ZPS X complete.

Output 3D LUT for final color tuning

Based on user requests, the developers also added an effect 3D LUT at the end of the editing process. Their output is no longer affected by further editing, so they are useful for final color tweaking.

New keyboard shortcut management

For more convenient and especially faster program operation, the spring Zoner Photo Studio X update brings improved keyboard shortcut management with a focus on shortcut context and usage across modules. Support for navigating the program has also been improved by adjusting tab and enter behavior when navigating between folders and thumbnails.

Rejected photos

Another improvement for faster processing of larger volumes of photos is the Rejected rating. These photos can then be quickly deleted at once and only those that are suitable for further editing or archiving can be dealt with.

New video transitions and markers

The spring update brings six times more advanced transition effects to the video editor, color-coded markers with captions for more extensive editing, and improved keyframe handling.

New lenses and cameras supported

Support has been added for lenses and new cameras such as Canon EOS R100 and R10, Nikon Z8, Sony α9 III and α6700, Fujifilm X-S20 and X-H2, Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 II and DC-S1H, OM-1 Mark II, OM-5 and others.

For HDR, we recommend INNOCN monitors

During the development process, we tested dozens of HDR-enabled monitors to recommend the best and most affordable products for our customers. The best product we can recommend is the Innocn 32M2V-B mini-led monitor (4K 144Hz, 3840 x 2160, 1ms IPS, HDR1000, 1ms IPS, 1 152 dimming zones, HDMI 2.1, 99% DCI-P3, USB Type-C Connectivity, Pivot/Height Adjustable Stand), which can be purchased through Amazon.
